The Nifty slipped below the 18,600 mark, while the Sensex experienced a decline of 223 points, with PSU banks being the most negatively affected.

In a session marked by volatility, Indian equity indices closed lower for the second consecutive day on June 9, with selling observed across various sectors except for capital goods and power.

The Sensex, consisting of 30 stocks, declined by 223.01 points or 0.35 percent to settle at 62,625.63, while the Nifty dropped by 71.10 points or 0.38 percent to reach 18,563.40.

Although the market started the day on a flat to positive note and remained in positive territory during the initial hours, profit-booking activities in the second half led to a decline, pushing the indices to their lowest levels of the day.

During the week, the Sensex gained 78 points, while the Nifty added 29 points.
